I need to come clean: last weekend, I started playing my Christmas records. (clutches pearls). Normally, I would wait until Thanksgiving, but since 2020 is 2020, I needed some comfort now. Christmas is my favorite time of year and the biggest subsection of my record collection is Christmas records. Even in a normal year I'm antsy to get those on the turntable.
Every year, there's always a new batch of records from artists all across the musical spectrum. While not all come out on vinyl, there's a few notable ones this year that did.
The Nutcracker is obviously a Christmas standard. Recorded in 2009 by the Berliner Philharmoniker, this recording first came out in 2010, but this is the first time on vinyl. 2 LP, 180g.
Pentatonix has a number of Christmas records, but this is their best selling, a compilation of some of the others. Gotta admit, these folks
put on a good rendition of my favorite holiday songs.
There's plenty of versions of this record floating around out there. It's not the best price, but this one is in stock. Clearly, this is one of the
must have Christmas records.
