New Vinyl This Week: August 14, 2015

There's an eclectic mix of vinyl coming out this week. We've got a reissue of Bleed American by Jimmy Eat World, a reissue of Euphoria Mourning by Chris Cornell, and some new Neil Young. But, here's a closer look at some other albums out this week.

Amy Winehouse: Frank Album Art

Amy Winehouse - Frank

Predating Back to Black by three years, Frank was Amy's debut to the world. This is the first time it's been available on vinyl in the US, though you can find earlier European imports pressings. It peaked at #3 in the UK. This pressing is on 180 gram vinyl and includes a download card.

Rushmore OST Album Art

Rushmore OST

Pressed for the first time on vinyl, coming on the heels of another Wes Anderson soundtrack on vinyl The Darjeeling Limited. I've never seen Rushmore, but I did enjoy Jason Schwartzman in the recent Red Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp series on Netflix.

In Rushmore, Schwartzman's character, Max Fischer is described as "president of the French Club, German Club, Chess Club, Astronomy Club; captain of the fencing and debate teams; founder of the Double-team Dodgeball Society; and director of the Max Fischer Players; for whom he writes and produces plays about police corruption, inner-city violence, war, etc. He is applying for early admission to Oxford. (Harvard is his safety.) He is also one of the worst students in the school and has been placed on sudden-death academic probation"

Sounds like I need to check it out.

Grace Potter: Midnight Album Art

Grace Potter - Midnight

Fans kind of freaked out when they heard that Grace Potter was doing a record sans the Nocturnals. What did it all mean?

Well, according to Potter, it meant that this record was so different than the stuff the band did that it deserved a different presentation. "I’ve got a lot of different influences and creative impulses and I can’t always use my band as my springboard. Sure, I could’ve called this a GPN record, but why would I slap a sticker on an apple and call it an orange?" she said.

Here's the first single off the new album, "Alive Tonight":
