New Vinyl This Week: June 23, 2015
Too bad, so sad I missed a couple weeks a new vinyl. Believe me, I would have rather been checking out new music than where I was.
Leon Bridges - Coming Home
Leon who? Yeah, this Texan came out of nowhere. This time last year he was still working as a dishwasher while he pursued the dream. This album will make you feel like you've been transported to a different era.
Metacritic has his debut album scored at 77.
Here's the video from his first single, "Coming Home". Given the crackle on the album, you might be tempted to get up and check your needle, but don't worry. It's part of the charm.
Breaking Benjamin - Dark Before Dawn
Back from hiatus with almost a completely new band. Well, except for original member Benjamin Burnley. I'm not convinced this is going to be anything special, but you never know.
Offspring - Americana
I had to include this reissue in our new vinyl post this week. This album came out in 1998, towards the latter half of my college career. Surely you remember "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" and "Why Don't You Get a Job?"
The reissue is good news since the original goes for over $60 on Discogs. Nice to get some quality stuff for cheaper. There is also a Limited edition Red version available to indie record stores. Check it out over at Bull Moose. The earlier link is for the standard black version.
