Introducing Best Buy Vinyl Prices

Until now, every price that we've tracked on Vinyl Deals has been for Amazon.com. According to Billboard, they are the #1 retailer selling vinyl, so it's no surprise that we started with them.

But we wanted more.

Our goal with Vinyl Deals is to create the go-to website to find the best prices and deals on vinyl. When you want to buy the latest Cranberries reissue, we want you to think of Vinyl Deals and find the best price you can get.

To accomplish that goal, we've started building out our technology to suck-in prices from other retailers and we started with Best Buy.

Here's what an album details page looks like now:

In this case, we're able to show four difference prices: Amazon, Best Buy, Amazon Used, and Discogs.

Best Buy typically changes prices on albums once a week to coincide with their weekly circulars, so we expect to see interesting price drops on Sunday. We saw this effect yesterday for the first time when they dropped the price on dozens on Beatles albums. Here's the price chart for A Hard Day's Night (Mono)

The orange line is the Best Buy price history. It shows that they had the same $22.98 price as Amazon for a couple days and then yesterday, Sunday, dropped it to $16.99. They did the same thing on what appears to be their entire Beatles catalog.

Over time, these price charts will get really interesting and we can't wait to see what happens. So, take a look around. Best Buy usually offers free shipping on orders of $35 or more. Grow your collection!
